Boundary Commission Reviews

North Yorkshire is set to have new boundaries for its Council divisions

A Boundary Commission Review has been undertaken to look at the number of councillors, the layout of electoral divisions, and the names of those divisions for North Yorkshire Council. This review has been carried out by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) to ensure fair and effective representation across the county.

The Local Government Boundary Commission is the independent body that draws these boundaries. It has reviewed North Yorkshire to make sure Councillors will represent about the same number of electors, and that division arrangements will help the Council work effectively.

The Commission has published final recommendations for changes in North Yorkshire. It says residents should be represented by 89 Councillors. This is one fewer than the existing arrangements.

There will be 85 single-Councillor divisions and 2 two-Councillor divisions. Most existing division boundaries will change.

You can find the latest information, timelines, and consultation updates on the LGBCE website.
