Emergency Resilience

The best way to deal with an emergency is to be prepared and working together brings about effective preparation, response, and recovery

Here are some key ways you can work with us to prepare for an emergency:

  • You can be a member of Local Resilience Forum (LRFs), multi-agency partnerships that include ourselves, the blue light emergency services, and other key organisations. These forums coordinate planning and response efforts during and after an emergency situation
  • You can help us develop and maintain community emergency plans that outline local resources, key contacts, and specific actions to take during various types of emergencies. These plans are integrated with our broader emergency plans
  • You can participate in our training sessions and emergency exercises which help you become familiar with your roles and ensures we all work together effectively during an actual emergency
  • You can help us by sharing timely and accurate information with your community. This includes updates on the situation, safety instructions, and available resources
  • By helping coordinate local resources, such as volunteers and equipment, you support emergency response efforts and helps us ensure resources are deployed where they are needed most
  • After an emergency, you can play a key role in the recovery process.  You can help assess damage, coordinate community support, and work with us to restore normalcy
